Fears Nachawati announces the formation of a new appellate practice group. Leading this section are veteran appellate and complex litigation lawyers Ann Saucer and Misty Farris. Both attorneys have high-level leadership experience in venues ranging from state and federal trial courts to the U.S. Supreme Court, preparing appellate briefs and written and oral arguments across a wide variety of areas. This includes multidistrict litigation, class-actions and high-profile complex litigation.
“Experienced trial lawyers know that strong appellate support and advocacy is one of the most important tools in their toolbox, and the talent, credentials and experience of Ann, Misty and their team match up against the very best appellate practices in the Southwest,” said firm co-founder Bryan Fears. While the appellate group has previously provided internal support for Fears Nachawati’s national complex litigation caseload, it is now extending that support to outside trial lawyers and law firms.
“Misty and Ann are well known in the legal community,” said firm co-founder Majed Nachawati. “Our firm has been fortunate to have them supporting our litigation. There’s a great need for the kind of high-quality and sophisticated work they do, and we’re excited about the opportunity to provide these services to other law firms.”
In state and federal MDLs and class-action lawsuits, Ann has prevailed in arguments before the Fifth and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, state supreme courts in Texas, Mississippi and West Virginia, the Texas Court of Appeals in Dallas, and state and federal trial courts across the country. She is regularly asked to play leadership roles and handle key briefings in state and federal litigation against manufacturers, distributors and retailers of highly addictive prescription opioids and other dangerous drugs.
Misty plays a large role in the firm’s public client litigation, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, handling substantive briefing and appellate matters in a broad range of practice areas, including litigation involving dangerous drugs, medical devices and toxic torts.
