Fears | Nachawati Law Firm Wins Substantial Verdict for Client in Donald R. Maddox v. Inland Truck Parts Company
On Tuesday, July 22, 2014, the Fears | Nachawati Law Firm personal injury legal team appeared in the 44th Judicial District Court in Dallas County under Presiding Judge, the Honorable Carlos R. Cortez, to litigate for their client, Donald R. Maddox.
The civil case of Donald R. Maddox v. Inland Truck Parts Company developed as a result of a mechanical failure. On October 4, 2010, Mr. Maddox, employed as a truck driver was picking up a load in Virginia when the transmission of his truck shifted from the bell housing assembly that housed it, causing the transmission to shift. The shift in the truck mechanism caused repeated injuries to his knee. It was later found that the company that had serviced the truck, Inland Truck Parts Company, had left off essential bolts from the mechanism. Because the truck was not serviced properly, our client Mr. Maddox was left in debilitating pain that ultimately required a total knee replacement. This injury has severely hindered our client’s ability to work and to go about his day-to-day activities.
Because of the experienced and thorough team of lawyers, paralegals and assistants, the Personal Injury Division from Fears | Nachawati successfully argued their case in front of a jury, who rendered a verdict in excess of $1,000,000.00 to be awarded to Maddox as a result of the defendant’s negligence to avoid the mechanical failure. Included in the amount awarded to Maddox, $250,000 was designated to the our Plaintiff for physical impairment sustained in the past and $406,315 for loss of future working capacity.
