Man Struck, Killed Trying To Cross I-20

A pedestrian trying to cross Interstate 20 near Matlock Road early Sunday morning died after he was struck by two vehicles, according to police.

Police got the call about the accident around 12:30am and found that a man had run into the eastbound lanes just as a motorist entered the freeway from Matlock Road. The motorist told police she couldn't avoid the pedestrian and hit him in one of the traffic lanes.

A second vehicle also hit the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The pedestrian's name was not released pending the notification of next of kin. Police found no indication that the drivers were using alcohol or drugs.
